Wood finish/stain/varnish that would create most contrast?

Hopefully you have a bit of leftover wood from the project to experiment on. Sometimes just putting a clear coat on does not do it. Some wood needs a little enhancement. Pick up some tung oil and try wiping some down with that first. Then try clear on both. You might be suprised.
